PE and Sports grant

St Bernard's are delighted to have achieved School Games Gold Award in 2018 and 2019 due to our ongoing commitment to PE and Sports.

Our aim is to get all children more active, not just those who like sports! A key time to promote this is during playtimes. We know around 20% of our children's time in school is playtime and we are exploring ways to promote outstanding play.

At St Bernard’s the children enjoy high quality sporting experiences.   As a school, we aim to participate in every sporting competition available as well as delivering high quality PE lessons alongside a curriculum which promotes healthy lifestyles.

Each year, we look to build on our PE and Sports provision and now use the government’s PE and Sport Grant to achieve this.

The PE and Sport grant is additional funding given to publicly-funded schools in England to improve physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools over a number of academic years from 2013 to 2020.

The grant is calculated and paid on an academic year basis. The funding received during the academic year 2018 – 2019 was £17580.  For further information please look at the documents below or contact Mrs Morgan
