Curriculum OVERVIEW
At St Bernard's we have a connected curriculum which is a thematic approach to delivering and covering the curriculum. We are very proud of our unique 'Connectors' and feel we provide children with not only the knowledge but the skills to be life long learners.
We prioritise reading. Children read widely and often across all subjects and are introduced to high quality texts throughout the curriculum.

We are talking on the Cultural Education Challenge and our curriculum provides our pupils with a wealth of cultural opportunities.
Teams one to six
Children in Teams One to Six follow the 2014 National Curriculum. This encompasses English, mathematics, art & design, computing, design & technology, music geography, history, PE and languages in key stage 2.
Each year group has 2 connectors (topics) and there are two whole school projects. These are based around social justice and conservation.

Life long learning
We strongly believe in giving children the skills to become proficient learners with a 'can-do' positive attitude towards learning. We do this through the Learning Powered Approach- LPA.
